10-year-old Aiden went to the first door and knocked on it. An older woman answered the door.

"Good morning!" Aiden said. "My name is Aiden. My mom is sick, and I want to get food for her. Can I get some money, please?" But the woman suspected and refused. Aiden didn't lose heart and knocked on the second door. "Can I please ask for some money, ma'am? My mom is very sick!" he begged sadly. The woman who answered the door gave him a concerned look. "Oh! Should I call the CPS (儿童保护署) or an ambulance? Do you want me to come with you?"

"Ugh, well," Aiden hesitated. "It's alright. I just remembered I had to go somewhere," he ran away. That whole day, Aiden went from door to door asking for money, but sadly, he got none.

A couple of days later, Aiden returned to the neighborhood and saw a new couple had moved into what used to be an empty house. He decided to try his luck and knocked on the 12 door, and a young woman answered.

Aiden told her his name and repeated what he said to the other residents. The woman smiled, "I'm Lauren. Just wait here. I'll get you some money and food, okay?" Aiden nodded as Lauren went inside. She returned with two huge bags of groceries and a $100 bill. "I hope these can help your mother," she said.

"Thank you!" he exclaimed happily as he carried the two bags over his shoulder and ran away.

Waving him goodbye, Lauren realized that Aiden was hiding something. She decided to drive after him secretly to find out more about his story. Soon, they came to an area without houses, and then Aiden disappeared under a bridge. Lauren pulled over and walked to the bridge. She spotted him and froze. Aiden was living with a little girl in a tent under the bridge. She heard Aiden saying to the girl, "Beth, we have food now. You won't go hungry."

My mom only had one eye. I hated her. She was such an embarrassment.

She ran a small shop at a flea market and collected old clothes and some other things to sell for the money we needed. Once during elementary school, it was field day, and my mom came. I was so embarrassed and wondered how could she do this time?  I threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school, my schoolmates asked me, "Your mom only has one eye? " and laughed at me.

I was so angry with my mom and wished that she would just disappear from this world. So I said to my mom, "Why don't you have the other eye?  You're only gonna make me a joke! " My mom trembled with shock, and said in an apologetic tone, "I'm so sorry that I only have one eye, and I was an embarrassment for you. But I was so proud of my son to see a whole new world for me with that eye. I will leave right now. Sorry! " My mom turned around and slipped away.

For the words I had said to her earlier, there was something biting at me in the corner of my heart. Even so, I hated my one-eyed mom and our desperate poverty. Maybe because my mom hadn't punished me, I didn't think I had hurt her feelings very badly.

I told myself that I would become successful in the near future, so I studied very hard. Later I got accepted by the Seoul University. I left my mother and came to Seoul to study. I never went back to visit my mom.

Then I got married there. I bought a house of my own. Then I had kids, too. Now I am living happily as a successful man. I enjoy the life in Seoul because it's a place that doesn't remind me of my mom and my past. This kind of happiness was getting bigger and bigger, until one day someone knocked at my door.

Steve was the most amazing person in all of Minneapolis, and he was my cousin. By the age of 19, Steve was a star baseball player at the University of Minnesota. I wanted to be exactly like him. So when Steve asked me to go with him on a spring fishing trip in northern Minnesota, I was excited!

After planning the trip, we gathered clothes and supplies, and began our great adventure. We reached the Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota by early evening. On our way to the campsite, Steve pointed to a small house faraway in one of the mountains, saying that it was the ranger station (护林站) where the forester worked.

Finally, after a long walk, we reached the campsite and set up the camp as the sun was setting. Steve knew all the tricks of an experienced wilderness camper. After we gathered enough wood from the forest, he started the campfire using only stone and steel—no matches. For supper we feasted on freezedried beef, wild rice and pea soup. I ate greedily after all that work.

Tired enough, we climbed into our sleeping bags early and talked about our plans for fishing the next day. We were still talking quietly when a sudden north wind picked up; the temperature dropped and it began to snow. Steve found a way to increase the temperature inside the tent. He dragged a log (原木) from the forest to the opposite side of the campfire. Then he wrapped aluminum foil (铝箔) around the log. The heat from the fire reflected off the foil and into the tent. Soon images of lake fish were filling my dreams.

The snow had stopped, but sometime later a powerful wind must have kicked up the flames of our dying fire. I was abruptly awakened by Steve. Our tent was on fire. Frightened, I ran out of the tent immediately. The tent collapsed with Steve inside. Without any thought of endangering myself, I reached into the burning tent and pulled him to the icy lake. Fortunately, we were not seriously hurt.

注意:1)续写词数应为150左右;

2)请按如下格式作答。

Suddenly, we heard a noise in the forest.

Jenny was a brighteyed, pretty fiveyearold girl. One day when she and her mother were checking out at the grocery store, Jenny saw a plastic pearl necklace which was priced at $2. 50. How she wanted that necklace, and when she asked her mother if she would buy it for her, her mother said," Well, it is a pretty necklace, but it costs an awful lot of money. I'll tell you what. I'll buy you the necklace, and when we get home we can make up a list of chores that you can do to pay for the necklace. And don't forget that for your birthday grandma just might give you a whole dollar bill, too. Okay?" Jenny agreed happily, and her mother bought the pearl necklace for her.

Jenny worked on her chores very hard every day, and sure enough, her grandma gave her a brand new dollar bill for her birthday. Soon Jenny had paid off the pearls. How Jenny loved those pearls! She wore them everywhere to kindergarten, bed and even when she went out with her mother to run errands.

The only time she didn't wear them was in the shower because her mother had told her that they would turn her neck green!

Jenny had a very loving Daddy. When Jenny went to bed, he would get up from his favourite chair every night and read Jenny her favourite story.

One night when he finished the story, he asked Jenny," Hey, sweetie, do you love me?"

"Oh yes, Daddy, you know I love you," the little girl said with a warm smile.

"Well, then, give me your pearls."

"Oh! Daddy, not my pearls!" Jenny refused." But you can have Rosy, my favourite doll. Remember her? You gave her to me last year for my birthday. And you can have her tea party outfit, too. Okay?"

"Oh no, darling, that's okay." Her father brushed her cheek with a kiss." Good night, little one. "
