One of my earliest memories is play "shops" with my grandpa when I was 5. After leaving school at 18, I worked in a fruit shop, but I had no 1 of how to run my own shop back then.

Several years later, my husband Eric and I heard about a shop for sale in a nearby village. We had a look and decided to have it as our own. We were a bit 2 at shop-keeping, so we often didn't know what the 3 were asking for. But we soon learned how to run it well.

Nowadays, more people shop online, but they still come here for things 4 from their order. I've kept up with technology, but the shop itself hasn't changed much.

Now, as I'm getting older, the shop is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, 5 closing at 8:30 p.m. like before.

Eric died 16 years ago, but I am 6 giving up the shop. I love it all—talking to the customers and getting 7 they want. Some customers come in two or three times a day. They often tell me their 8 and I offer advice if I can.

It was the shop's 50th anniversary (周年) on May 13 this year. I wanted to do something 9 , so I held a party with my customers. I also wrote a book about my memories in the shop.

The World is in Danger

Our world is in danger. We must do something to protect the environment. But, what are the main problems we face?

The greenhouse effect

The atmosphere (大气层) around the Earth is necessary for all living things. It is like the glass of a greenhouse, letting sunlight in and keeping heat from getting out. Without it, the Earth would be the same as the Moon—cold and lifeless.

When we burn fuels (燃料) such as petrol and coal, we produce a gas called carbon dioxide (CO₂). Too much of this gas pollutes the atmosphere, and causes it to keep in too much heat. As a result of the greenhouse effect, the Earth's temperature is increasing. This causes sea level to rise, and in the future may cause cities to disappear.

Cutting down forests

Every year, we destroy nature by cutting down many forests. This makes the greenhouse effect worse because trees take in CO₂and produce oxygen (O₂). Cutting down trees also destroys the homes of animals that live in forests, and causes the surface of the soil to be easily destroyed by train. This can result in floods and even more damage to the environment.

Bad habits

Many of our habits cause pollution. People often use things once and then throw them away, or leave them on the ground as litter. To protect the environment, we need to take proper action. We should be different from many consumers and become "green consumers". This means that we should only buy and use products friendly to the environment. We should also recycle as many things as we can. We can reuse things for the same purpose as before, or we can use them for new purposes. Then, we can make a difference.

Shaoxing Opera, also called Yue Ju, is one of the Five Operas in China, just second to Peking Opera and has been  into the first national non-material cultural heritages (遗产) in 2006. As the most popular local opera in the country, Shaoxing Opera  in Sheng County (嵊州), Zhejiang in later Qing Dynasty (1636—1911), and became popular in Shanghai in 1920s.

Shaoxing Opera is special in singing and good at showing feelings along with beautiful music, poetic lyrics and excellent performing. The main subject of Shaoxing Opera is the love stories of talented young adults. Some of the stories are  history books, but most of them are from famous folk tales. Besides, the main musical instrument is erhu with some other  Chinese musical instruments like dizi,pipa and guzheng.

First performed by male (男性) farmer artists in the countryside, Shaoxing Opera was  developed into a popular performance in  with other characteristics of Kunqu Opera, Shao Opera and modern drama. But nowadays almost all performers  women. The classics of this opera are LiangShanbo and ZhuYingtai, the White Snake and others.

Shaoxing Opera is an important part of Chinese culture. In China, it  to be popular only among old people. , more and more young people are becoming interested in it nowadays. And people around the world are learning about its special singing and performing. As Chinese, we should all be  for spreading it.
