The ISS is as tall as a nine﹣story building and weighs 186，900 kilograms. It's about the size of two football fields and flies about 400 kilometers above our heads at 28，970 kilometers per hour. It goes around Earth once every 90 minutes. 

If you watch the sky for about an hour after the sun goes down，you may see some "moving stars". But they are not really stars. They are man﹣made satellites. And the biggest of all is the International Space Station （ISS）. From May to July is the best season to watch the ISS flying over the earth. And people can see it with their eyes during the time. 

The scientists want to live on the ISS. They think that the best way to learn more about space is to live there. 

When the space station is finished，it will be like a city in space. People will stay and study there with many of the thing they have at home. Laboratories，living rooms and power stations are being built. The ISS is the most ambitious（雄心勃勃的）

Scientists hope that the ISS will be a stepping stone（跳板） for future space exploration. "The ISS will be more useful some day. The ISS will help us understand the human body better，explore space and study the earth. It can help us make life on the earth better. " said Kathryn Clark

Sixteen countries are part of the space program：the US，Russia，Canada，Brazil，and 11 European countries. 

China isn't an ISS country，but it has helped with some of the experiments. In 2003，China sent some rice up to the ISS to find out what space would do to it. 

After it's finished，more than 90 percent of the world's population is able to see the Space Station. So keep looking up，and maybe you'll see it getting bigger. 

Scientists say a new kind of robot can create baby robots. This is science fiction becoming science fact. The scientists in the US created the world's first "living" robots，called Xenobots. They are from the stem cells （干细胞）of an African frog. Xenobots are made up of about 3，000 cells. During an experiment，the researchers found a very interesting thing. They put enough Xenobots in a petri dish，and they would gather （ 聚 集 ）together. Finally，there were some new Xenobots，and they would become exactly the same as the mother Xenobots after a few days. Scientists said the robots can reproduce（再生）because they have a special shape. 

Researchers tested billions of body shapes. The result was a C﹣shaped robot. The inside "C" became the Xenobot's mouth. It gathered small cells in its mouth. These cells became a new "baby" Xenobot. 

Xenobots are not what we imagine robots to be. Scientists say they are technically robots. They are a machine﹣animal hybrid. They are "a completely new life﹣form". 

Xenobots are very early technology. However，they're helpful in many fields such as science， medicine and the environment. We can use them to repair the damage to our organs （器官）， attack micro﹣plastics in the ocean and so on. Although Xenobots can play an important role in our future life，some people are still worried about robots that can reproduce. 

Food waste(食物残渣) is a big problem in Japan and the world. In 2019, Japan produced 5.7 million tons of food waste. The government is working on reducing this to 2.7 million by 2030.

Now, University of Tokyo researchers in Japan have created a new technology that uses food waste in a surprising way. Student Kota Machida and Professor Yuya Sakai say the operation can turn food waste into a strong material like cement (水泥). They say it is four times stronger than regular concrete and is sustainable. And you can eat it.

Through a process of drying, crushing, and compressing(压缩)the food waste, Sakai and his student Machida had successfully made cement from food waste without plastic. "The most challenging part was that each type of food waste requires different temperatures and pressure levels," Sakai said.

The team have used different types of food waste to make the cement, including tea leaves, orange peels, coffee grounds, and leftover lunch materials. They've adjusted flavors with different spices and found the colors, smell and taste of the cement can be quite attractive. 

Machida and his two friends have created a company called Fabula, Inc. They are working with other companies to use the material to make products for the home. "If this cement could replace plastic and cement products, it may help slow global warming linked to food waste," said Machida.
