Davey got up early in the morning and couldn't wait to look out of the window. To his great disappointment, it was snowing heavily outside. Usually he would look forward to watching snow, but today he was not. It was Christmas Eve, and because of the snowstorm, Davey was worried that his cousin Josh would be stuck in the road and couldn't make it to his home for Christmas from a neighboring city.

"We haven't seen each other for half a year, and I have got a special present for him!" Davey said to himself. "How I wish he could get here!"

In the afternoon, Davey and his parents drove to the town to buy a Christmas tree. When they finished shopping and were about to leave the store, Davey saw a crowd of people outside. He ran to get a closer look. It was Santa Claus (圣诞老人)! Children were waiting in line to express their wishes to him. "Can I get in line, please Dad?" asked Davey. "Well, we're kind of in a hurry," said his dad. "But since this is Santa Claus, I guess we can spare the time."

Davey gave his dad a big thank-you hug and ran to the line. When it was finally his turn, Davey climbed up on Santa's lap. Santa asked, "Well, what would you like for Christmas?"

"I wish my cousin Josh could get home for Christmas," Davey said. "But the snow is so deep that Mom and Dad don't think he can make it." Having known from the weather forecast(预报) that it would be sunny with the snow stopping later, Santa Claus said, "I don't usually deliver people on Christmas Eve, but I'll tell you what to do. Tonight, before you go to sleep, make your wish on the biggest, brightest star in the sky. That's the Wishing Star and it might hear your heart."

注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

When it finally came to the bedtime, Davey rushed to the window._

2.  阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

It was last August. We were on vacation, having driven from our home in Washington, DC, to New Hampshire. We wouldn't see friends — it would be just me, my husband, and our two kids out for a nice week away. We had walked about half a mile to a popular place called Diana's Baths, near the town of North Conway, where the water falls off a series of flat large rocks. The baths were full of families, so we made our way to one of the upper levels of rock to keep our distance (距离).

Both where we sat and down below, the water fell into small pools, where kids in swimsuits were playing. I watched as some younger parents nervously asked their toddlers (学步的小孩) to keep away from the rocks' edges (边缘), feeling thankful that our kids, at six and eight, knew how to be careful. But I was still worried as I saw my two boys jump between the rocks.

"No running," I said again and again. "Stay away from all those edges."

But I soon relaxed, and we were all having fun, playing in the pools. My kids were laughing as my husband put his head under the running water. Then, seconds later, every fear I'd ever had rose to the surface.

I turned and saw my son Wyatt sitting down between two rocks in a fast-moving stream (小溪). I shouted at him to get out. He shouted back something that I couldn't hear, and then he disappeared over the edge.

My husband was already running down the rocks. I finally saw that Wyatt was sitting up — he was alive. My biggest fear was erased. As I held my younger son, Jed, close, I heard a woman shout. "That child just went over the waterfall! He fell on his back, straight onto the rocks."

It was about 12 feet from the top of the waterfall to the pool below.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请按如下格式在相应位置作答。

While everyone else looked on from a distance, too afraid to help, this woman didn't hesitate.

The rescue team came.

It was the beginning of spring and Lucy was in the backyard with her grandchild, Jack. Jack was playing soccer when Lucy asked, "I'm going to start planting my garden. Do you want to help me?"

"What are you going to plant, Granny?" asked Jack ."I like big, yellow sunflowers."

"I'm going to plant vegetables. That way we can have them to eat when they are ready," Lucy replied.

"How long does that take?" asked Jack. He sometimes liked vegetables, especially carrots.

"It will take a few months before anything is ready to eat, "Lucy answered. Jack was surprised.

"Months? Why would you do all that work and then have to wait so long?" Jack said. "You should just go to the store and buy them."

"Be patient, my dear! Don't you know food always tastes best when you grow it yourself?" Lucy said. "And if you come to help, it won't be too much work."

"I'll help you, Granny, "offered Jack. He put down the soccer and went to look at the gardening tools Lucy had prepared.

Lucy taught Jack how to use a trowel(铲) to dig small rows for the seeds. Then, Lucy showed Jack how to place the seeds into each hole and how to cover the holes with soil. Lastly, Jack wrote the names of the vegetables on sticks that Lucy pushed into the ground. "This way we can remember which vegetable seeds we planted, "Lucy explained.

Once everything was planted, Jack filled the watering can so that Lucy could make the soil nice and wet for the seeds to start to grow.

"Now we just water them a little bit every day, and with time and sunlight, we'll have delicious things to eat in the summer, "Lucy said. They had never been so excited for summer before.
