I'm Lin Yue. In March, 2022, COVID-19 started suddenly in my city. It was so serious that the whole city was locked down. At the very beginning of the lockdown (行动限制), some old people, especially those living alone, had difficulty getting vegetables.

One day, in the community WeChat group, an old man said that he was short of vegetables so I had an idea of setting up a food bank in the community, and my neighbors were also ready to offer help.

To keep social distancing (社交距离), I used a large box as the food bank, and put it in the public area. Neighbors could give away and get some food there. The large box was quickly filled with vegetables, rice and snacks.

One evening, I saw a bag of vegetables with a note saying "These are fresh vegetables. Please take them home if you need."

In the WeChat group, an old lady who got the vegetables said, "I was so moved by the good-will (善意), but I only took three tomatoes, because I wanted to leave the rest for those people really in need."

There were many similar stories in my city during the lockdown. Although COVID-19 keeps us apart, we can get through the hard times as long as we pull together.

(1) When did COVID-19 start suddenly in the city?
(2) Who had difficulty getting vegetables?
(3) Where did the writer put the large box in the community?
(4) Why did the old lady only take three tomatoes?
(5) What can we learn from the passage?

3. 阅读下面的短文,根据短文内容回答问题。

As an exchange student, I studied in France for two years. The first time I took a class in the chemistry lab, I was surprised to find that students were fully "armed". Everyone was wearing goggles (护目镜) and gloves. Safety comes first for science lab class.

My chemistry teacher Mrs. Louise usually gave us the instruction paper the night before the lab class and let us read it. During the class, she first went over the steps and then put us into groups of two to do the experiments (实验). What was special was that for every lab class, Mrs. Louise changed everyone^ lab partner to make them work with different classmates.

The class was often filled with laughter and screams (尖叫). We once tried to bum the chemicals and watch the colors of the flames(火焰). Different chemicals produced different colors of flames, including bright orange and dark green. Many students in my class were surprised. "Wow! That's so beautiful!" they screamed. Then they excitedly took pictures, posted them online and sent them to their friends. Mrs. Louise didn't get angry with us at all for our "noises". She herself even took photos with us!

After finishing an experiment, we had to write a lab report. If we had a big mistake in the experiment, we needed. to analyze (分析) why it happened and what we should do to avoid it next time. The lab reports were very important. They made up around 25% of our term grade.

(1) How did the writer feel when he first took the chemistry class in the lab?
(2) Why did Mrs. Louise change everyone's lab partner in every lab class?
(3) Was Mrs. Louise angry with the students for their "noises"?
(4) What did the students have to do after finishing an experiment?
(5) What do you think of Mrs. Louise's lab class?
