I spent my childhood collecting and pressing four-leaf clovers(三叶草)into books at my mother's house. I started with big cloth-and-leather-bound books. When I ran out of bound volumes,I began to slip my treasures into anything I could find,such as old fiction paperbacks and cookbooks. The same is true in my house today. Shake a book,and a treasure just might fall into your hand.

A few years ago,in Nova Scotia,my husband and I pulled off the road for a picnic. The ground was thick with clovers. Some shoots had four,five,or even six leaves. I lined them up on the picnic table to admire. To me,it was simple. The differences in their shapes made them stand out,breaking the pretty pattern of the common clovers with three perfect leaves.

Two summers back,while waiting for an airport shuttle in Munich,I found a tiny four-leaf clover in a traffic circle and put it in my passport. On the way home,my husband and I were upgraded to business class. All of my friends owed it to the clover. I think it's some likely that we were upgraded because a flight was postponed,which left us trapped in two cities for several hours.

People disagree about whether the luck comes for finding or possessing a clover. Some believe that the luck is lost if the four-leaf clover is shown to somebody else,while others think that the luck doubles if it is given away. I believe that positivity is compounded by sharing. I feel lucky to find the clovers so often,but I don't think they influence my life anymore than it does to share any thing a little special with a friend or a stranger.

(3) What resulted in the author's being upgraded to business class? A. The friends' help. B. The flight delay. C. Her husband's company. D. Her passport with the tiny four-leaf clover.
(4) What is the author's purpose of writing the text? A. To advise readers to look for clovers. B. To encourage readers to share with others. C. To show readers the influence of good luck. D. To tell readers the ways of keeping clovers.

After a long day under the beating sun, an ice cream might be a tempting treat. But would you be able to enjoy it if you knew it was made from insect "milk" Gourmet Grubb, a food company, is hoping to use ice cream to introduce the public to the world of eating insects. Its ice cream uses EntoMilk, a dairy alterative made from insects known as the black solider fly, which is full of nutrients and friendly to farm and produce. "The ice cream flavors include chocolate, peanut butter and Christmas spices. We set out to change the way insects were seen, produced and used in the food industry, " said Leah Bessa, who cofounded Gourmet Grubb in 2017, "We were expecting a lot of push back. However, people said the first bite was not a taste of disgust but a pleasant surprise and they couldn't wait to have one more."

According to Bessa, EntoMilk has "a slightly taste of earth" and gives the ice cream "a rich, creamy taste". The insect "milk" ice cream is made with natural ingredients, such as raw honey, cocoa, spices and organic peanut butter. But it's not just about the taste — Bessa says the insect "milk" is also high in nutrients that are comparable to fish and meat like beef, chicken, and pork. EntoMilk is five times higher in protein than dairy.

"Insects need very little water, feed and space to grow, " Bessa explained, "They also produce little or no greenhouse gases compared to traditional livestock." Insects can be farmed indoors in small, controlled environments and they can be raised in urban areas, reducing the time of transporting the milk to the city. It also means they are less at risk of being impacted by outer climate patterns, which would affect cattle and crops. There is also potential for insect farming to reduce waste.

The United Nations predicts that the world will need to double food production to feed the global population by 2050 and has long promoted insect farming as a sustainable alternative protein source to traditional livestock. Although over 1, 900 insect species are estimated to be consumed by humans worldwide, insects are yet to reach the mainstream of Western cuisine.

When faced with the decision to get out of bed or have a few more minutes of sleep, which do you choose? Believe it or not, that decision could make a world of difference in the rest of your day.

About 85 percent of Americans use an alarm clock to wake up in the mornings, according to sleep researcher Till Roen. And while there are no official numbers on snoozing(打盹), a quick survey of social media makes it clear that hitting the snooze button is a popular pastime(消遣).

As to how the snooze button will affect your day, scientists have mixed opinions. Some scientists think people who hit the snooze button in the mornings are actually clever, creative and happy while some said that hitting the snooze button will ruin your life, or at the very least your day. "I feel that hitting the snooze button has got to be one of the worst things that ever happened to human sleep, " researcher Jonathan Horowitz said. "The chances of you ‘snoozing' and actually experiencing a meaningful rest are close to zero. "

According to some sleep experts, when hitting the snooze button, you are in fact confusing your body and mind, and throwing yourself into a deep state of being sleepy. The body needs some time to wake up. Therefore, when returning to what will be a light sleep for a brief period of time, you are putting your body back into a sleep mode before waking it again. At that point your body won't know what it wants, resulting in a sort of half awaken state.

If you really want to take advantage of an alarm clock, the key is to form a healthy sleep cycle. Focus your efforts on getting enough sleep each night and waking up at the same time each day so that when your alarm goes off you feel rested.

(4) What is the purpose of the text? A. To introduce ways to keep refreshed in the morning. B. To explain the relationship between the snooze button and people's character. C. To discuss whether people should hit the snooze button. D. To illustrate how to avoid the light sleep mode.
