Communication (沟通) is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it's hard for you to communicate with your parents, don't worry about it. Here is some advice for you.

Don't argue (争吵) with your parents. Don't try to talk about anything with your parents when you are angry. Your parents may not think about your ideas if you shout (大声叫喊) at them. Stop talking and go somewhere else to cool    off. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you think you can't speak to them at that time, write a letter to them.

Try to understand (理解) your parents. Your parents may think differently from you. Tell your parents what you think, what you care about and why, and you may find a better way out. Michael's mother didn't agree with him about buying a motorbike. She thought driving it would waste too much time. But Michael didn't think so. They argued over it. They understood each other after they had a talk. At last, Michael bought the motorbike, but only drove it on some days.

It's also important to show your love and respect (尊重) to your parents. Try to do some small things, like making them a cup of tea, helping do some housework and so on. Also speaking to them politely shows your respect.

These can help keep your relationship closer. A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. Let's have a try.

(1) What do the underlined words "cool    off" mean? A. Get angry. B. Get nervous. C. Become quiet. D. Become happy.
(2) What does the story of Michael show? A. It's right to agree with each other. B. It's a good way to write to each other. C. It's useful to argue with each other. D. It's important to understand each other.
(3) What is the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D.

Why are you study habits different from those of your friends? Why do you seem to learn faster in some classes while more slowly in others? One reason you may not know is that people have different types. Scientists say there are three different learning types: Visual(视觉型), Auditory(听觉型), and Kinesthetic (动觉型).

Visual learners learn best by seeing. If you seem to easily remember information from pictures, graphs(图表), and videos, you are probably a visual learner. You're not good at copying down what the teacher says in class. Never mind. You can draw graphs or pictures instead, if you find that works better for you.

Auditory learners learn best by hearing. If you seem to easily remember things by hearing them, then you are probably an auditory learner. You must listen carefully while the teacher is speaking because it's the easiest way for you to learn . Sometimes you may find that taking notes tops you from listening carefully. After class, you can write down what you remember or borrow your friend's notes to copy.

Kinesthetic learners learn best by doing. If you seem to learn best by working with your hands, you are probably a kinesthetic learner. Taking notes by writing can make you pay close attention to information as you receive it. Of course, you can learn best by making full use of labs or other class activities.

Hope you learn better by knowing what your personal learning type is.

It's very usual in Shanghai to see people out walking their dogs. But it's not a common sight to see dogs out walking people. These "out walking people" dogs are special: they are guide dogs and their owners are blind.

Trained guide dogs in Europe and America have been used to help blind people for around 100 years, but it is a new thing in China. A guide dog training center was set up in Shanghai in 2007 and there were only about twenty working guide dogs in the city. There was a city law(法律) that pets and animals shouldn't walk in shops or hospitals. That's why many guide dogs and

their owners were not allowed when they went shopping or tried to take a bus. But guide dogs are not really pets. They are working dogs and their job is to help blind people walk.

Shanghai made a law in 2011: Guide dogs and their owners should be allowed to go to the shops or the hospitals. Blind people and their guide dogs are able to go into many shops now. But the law doesn't make a difference. Only by opening people's eyes and changing most people's attitudes(态度) can guide dogs and their owners go anywhere anybody else can go.
