Orion Jean，a little boy in the United States，has a big goal.He wants to s  kindness to as many people as he can.

It all started in August 2020.Jean r  ＄500 in prize money after winning the U.S.National Kindness Speech Contest.He could have spent the money on Legos，but he quickly realized that it was not e  to just speak about kindness.The boy set up the "Race to Kindness" project.

Jean started off by helping children in hospital.Because of the COVID﹣19 pandemic，these children were not able to see their family members very often.Jean wanted to put a s on their faces.He used his money to buy as many toys as he could while calling on people to do the same.In only a month，he had c  619 toys.The boy sent them to a local children's hospital. "It is one of the best e  of my life，" he said at the time.

Not long after，in October 2020，Jean s the ambitious goal of donating 100，000 free Thanksgiving meals to poor families.With the help of a local charity，he was not only able to reach his goal but to go beyond it.As a book lover  can change a person's life.Last May，after discovered the f  that two out of three kids from poor family had no books of their own，they boy decided to collect 500，000 book for them.

Will he t  a break after this？ "Who knows？Maybe something even bigger will come，" Jean says. "Maybe we'll do a 'race' to a million."

My name is Mason. I was born into a musical family. I have three sisters and three brothers. We all like to 1 to music. And all of u play musical instruments. I became interested in playing the violin and started to play it when I was six years old. My teachers also encouraged my love for music. In 2016, I won the Young Musician Competition. 

After that, I played at bigger events（公开活动）and even released（发行）music. 

I'm r excited to tell you about my new album（专辑）called Song. I named it that because I think the violin sounds like a beautiful singing voice. The album has d kinds of music, like classical music, country music and even a pop song. 

In my o, we should be given the chance to study music, because it is a wonderful way to express ourselves and make our lives more colorful!

A pack rat① named Poncho had a big storeroom for all his things. Every day, Poncho went outside. He came back with leaves for lunch, seeds for supper and other things to f his storeroom. 

One day, as Poncho was walking, he saw a shiny golden spoon. He picked up the spoon and took it home. 

"Oh no," said Poncho, looking around his storeroom. "There's no s for my spoon. I'll have to move things around to find a place for it." But he failed. 

"I'll sort my things into two piles," Poncho said to himself. "I'll make a pile of things I want to s and a pile of things to throw away." When Poncho finished sorting, he didn't have two piles. He had one pile. He wanted everything. He was sad because his plan had not worked. 

Then an idea came to Poncho's mind. "I know how I'll make room for my spoon! My birthday is coming soon. I can have an amazing party."

Come to my special birthday. I'll have a giving-away party. Don't bring me a present. I'll give each of you one instead. After the party, you can take anything e the shiny golden spoon outside my door. 

Poncho's friends all came to his party on the birthday. They ate birthday berries and sang the birthday song. Then Poncho said, "It's time for my dear friends to pick presents."

The party turned w. The guests shouted happily, chose what they like and showed appreciation to Poncho. And he waved goodbye to all his friends. 

"Now I will bring in my shiny spoon," Poncho said happily. He went out and took the spoon inside. He stood in the center of the storeroom and looked around, "Tomorrow I will go out and get a few m things. After all, why have a storeroom if you don't store things in it?"

My name is Henry Adams. When I was 27, I worked in New York. One Saturday afternoon, I sailed my small boat, but a strong wind pushed me into the Pacific Ocean. Luckily, a British ship going to London saved me.

I had only one dollar when I got to London. I was tired and hungry. Then, a man from a nearby house called me inside. I went into a nice room where two old men were talking. The two men were brothers. They had been arguing (争吵) for days about something strange. One brother said, "If an honest and smart stranger comes to London with no friends or money, with only a £1,000,000 bank note, he will die from hunger. If he tries to change this big note at the bank, the police will think he stole it and arrest (逮捕) him." The other brother disagreed.

The two men decided to solve their argument with a bet. They chose me because I looked honest and clever. Also, I was new to England. One of them gave me an envelope (信封) and told me not to open it until I was in my hotel room.

After leaving the house, I opened the envelope and saw money inside! I rushed to the nearest restaurant. After eating, I tried to pay with the money but found out it was a one million pound note! It made my head swim. No one could cash (兑现金) it. The restaurant owner said, "You can pay whenever you want, sir. I know you are a rich gentleman playing jokes by dressing like a poor man."

I quickly went back to the house but was told they had left for a trip. Then I remembered the letter in the envelope. It said, "In this envelope, you will find some money. It is yours for only 30 days. At the end of that time, return to this house. We have a bet on you." How strange! Then, I went to a clothes shop to buy a cheap suit. When I showed the shop owner the bank note, he got angry because the salesman (销售员) sold me such a bad suit.

Friends are important in our lives. Let me share my story with you. 

I was born in a small village. My family was very poor, so my parents had to go out for a living. I lived with my grandparents when I was a baby. I was quiet. I had only a few friends. Maggie was my best friend. We became friends when we were 6 years old. She was brave and outgoing. When I was in trouble , she tried her best to help me. Once I was uncomfortable and asked for a leave in P. E. class. After class, one of my classmates lost a watch. I was the only person in the classroom at that time, so she shouted at me and asked me to return the watch to her. All the other classmates shouted at me together, too. But I didn't take the watch. I was very scared and began to cry. I couldn't say anything. At this time, Maggie appeared. She said that I could not be the thief because I was always an honest and nice girl. And she ran around the school. Finally , she found the watch in the toilet. The girl who lost the watch said sorry to me. I am so lucky to have such a good friend. 

We studied hard together and helped each other. Later, we both entered a good university. Now, we are 24 years old. We both live and work in Shanghai. She is not only my best friend but also my family. 

Matt is a primary school student who loves playing with little animals. One day, when he was on ( he ) way to school, he saw a homeless cat sitting in a box. It was a black-and-white cat with bright eyes. The cat was so cute Matt couldn't help playing with it.

The longer Matt played with cat, the more he liked it. The little cat followed him as he left for school. Matt then decided ( take ) the cat to school with him. He put the cat in his schoolbag went to school happily.

After Matt entered the class, he told some  ( classmate ) about the cat. As he opened the schoolbag to show them the cat, it suddenly jumped out and ( start ) running around the classroom. It even jumped onto the teacher's desk! Everyone in class was ( excited ) than ever before. Just at that time, the teacher came in and caught the cat ( quick ). Matt felt embarrassed and his face turned red.

To Matt's surprise, the teacher came up to him a smile, saying, " Matt, it's nice of you to lend a helping hand to homeless animals, but you are not allowed to take it to school. "

Max Woosey is a 12-year-old boy. He has slept outside in storms, snow and heat waves, but now he's coming indoors.

After two years of (sleep) in a tent, Max, who has raised over £700, 000, is about to remember what a bed (feel) like. "I'm still going to be in my tent a lot," said Max. "But now I've done two years. If there's a big, (danger) storm coming, I may come inside. "

Max began camping out in March 2020. At that time, old neighbor of his, Rick Abbott, who was (serious) ill, gave Max a tent and told him to take a risk with it. Later Max decided to camp out to raise money the hospital that cared for Rick. Max didn't think he would keep going a long time, it went on and on.

Over the two years, Max has been through around 15 tents and has had camping (trip) in many places. He even slept on a hotel balcony (阳台). His dad joined in the tent during last month's Storm Eunice, with Max joking that he (wake) up not by the wind but by his dad's snoring (鼾声)!

Chen Gang is a professor from China University of Geosciences. His son, Chen Lihao, is a university (学生). They reached the top of Mount Qomolangma, the world's highest peak, on (四月) 30th, 2022. During their journey, they did scientific research and (收集) ice, snow, plants and pieces of rocks. They were honoured as (英雄) after they returned.

Chen Gang likes (爬) mountains. He has been to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau many times over the past (九) years. Although he meets lots of difficulties, he (从不) thinks of giving up. He nicely connects his hobby with his career. As for his (勇敢的) son Chen Lihao, he is a national first-class mountaineer. He always (训练) hard and gets ready for more challenges. The father and son (两者都) show great courage and abilities. They closely combine their personal futures with national needs.
