Around the World Without Flying |
It was October 10, 2013. Torbjorn Pedersen, a traveller from Europe, started a special journey around the world. To make it more "special", he set some rules for (他自己). First, he wouldn't take planes. Second, he would like (花费,度过) at least 24 hours staying in each country. And third, he wouldn't return home until he visited every country. Although he planned (仔细地), Pedersen still met many difficulties. During his years on the (路,道路), he was caught in a terrible storm. He suffered from serious illness. And (甚至,更加) worse, he was stuck in Hong Kong because of COVID-19. "It was the worst but the best time of my life." he said. "While I (等待) for the world to reopen, I made friends with many friendly local people and built a (快乐的) life in the city." On (五月) 24, 2023, the "big day" finally arrived. After nearly ten years of traveling, Pedersen visited his last country, the Maldives. From the beginning to the (结尾), he traveled 223,000 miles. That's about (十五) round trip flights from Shanghai to New York. Along the special journey, Pedersen experienced a lot and got many lessons. He says it's not the numbers that matter the most. Instead, it's the kindness of people he met. |
