When I was in the third grade, I was chosen to be the princess in the school play. For weeks，my mother had helped me practise my words. But once on stage, every word 1  from my head. Then my teacher asked me to change my role to be a narrator(讲述者)for the play. 2  I didn't tell my mother what had happened that day, she noticed my 3  and asked if I wanted to take a walk in the garden.

It was a lovely spring day. We could see dandelions(蒲公英)coming out 4  the grass in bunches. I watched my mother bend down by one of the bunches. "I think I'll remove all these weds(野草)," she said. "From now on, we'll 5  have roses in this garden."

"But I like dandelions," I said. "All flowers are 6  even dandelions!"

My mother looked at me seriously. "Yes. Every flower gives pleasure in its own way, doesn't it?" she asked thoughtfully. I nodded(点头)."And the same as 7 ," she said.

When I 8  that she had guessed my pain, I started to cry and told her the truth. "But you will be a wonderful narrator," she said, 9  me of how much I loved to read stories aloud.

Thanks to my mother's encouragement, I got to know everybody had his or her own 10  in the world. I felt proud of the role in the play.

Derek Rabelo was born in Brazil in 1992. His father called him Derek after a famous1 star, Derek Ho. Derek's father wanted Derek to become a surfer, too, but there was a2 Unluckily, Derek was born blind. His father's dream to see his son surf seemed3 !

When Derek was 17, his father told him about his4 . From that moment, Derek tried his best to become a surfer. 5 went to the beach every day and started taking surfing6 with a coach. Derek kept trying and7 , he learned to surf. 

Derek explains that8 he can't see, he understands the noises that the waves make and he can9 them when they are coming. He says every part of a wave makes a different noise, 10 he knows which direction to surf in. 

In 2012, he flew to Hawaii to surf one of the most challenging and dangerous11 in the world. Local surfers were very12 to see the confident young man surf the huge wave with no problem13 .

Tang Guoliang is an 85-year-old retired professor of Jiangsu University in China. Recently he gave 100, 000 yuan to the university's1 to promote reading. 

Over the past years, Tang has already2 167 medical books. This time, he gave all of3 collection to the library, including 15 medical notebooks. However, he still lives a4 life himself now. Tang said he wanted to do more meaningful things in the rest of his life. 

"I hold5 feelings for poor students, " Tang said. Over the past 25 years after he retired, he has been6 students with difficulties in their studies and life at the university. Ten years ago, Tang heard that a girl in his hometown was experiencing financial(金融的)7 . He managed to get in touch with the8 and gave 1, 000 yuan to her. 

"I was from a poor family9 I understand how hard life is for poor people. And I know the importance of reading, " Tang said. "10 my own experience, I know that reading can build one's future. I11 hope that young people can read more excellent books. "

Tang enjoys reading books very much. As a regular(定期的)12 to the university's library, he still13 about 50 books every year from the library in recent years. He also develops the habit of taking notes while reading. The old man wrote about 15 medical notebooks, 14 he gave to the library. " These notes include many important medical cases I15 . I hope that they are helpful for medical teachers and students, " Tang said.
