It was one of the hottest summers inin the state of Victoria, Australia. Bush fires*were burning veryto people's homes and they were in danger. In every town, volunteers were fighting the fires. David Tree was one of thesefirefighters.

On 9 February. Mr Tree was working with his team near his home town of Mirboo. They were fighting a bush fire. They wereup Samson Road when Mr Tree saw a koala. It was walking across the burned ground, and it didn't look happy. There's a koala, stop the truck. Mr Tree shouted and jumped out "I videoed the koala for my daughter Cheyenne and shouted for a bottle of water."

Firefighter Mark Pardew took the photo while the koala was drinking from a bottle. "Koalas arefriendly to people but this one took David's hand," said Mr Pardew. "She wastired and thirsty."

A friend took theanimal to a wildlife centre. At the centre, they named her Sam after Samson Road.

Later Mr Pardew emailed the photo to friends and someone sent it to thenewspaper. From there it went around the world and David Tree became a celebrity.

ChatGPT is an AI system(系统) that can have a discussion and create written work. It can create material based on what it has learned  digital books and online naissance. Now three high school students in Cyprus have developed an  robot with the help of their teachers. It is special as it uses ChatGPT AI technology. 

The robot is named AInstein. It is the size of a small adult and even has a screen for a face that appears to show human facial(面部) . It speaks a North American form of English. And it can tell jokes, like " was the math book sad? Because it had too many problems." The robot enjoys  science books and spending time playing the violin. 

The creators of AInstein want to use the technology to  learning experiences in the classroom. In fact, there  be a place for robots in education after all. British education expert Anthony Seldon predicts that robots will take over the classroom in 2027 and teachers will work as their helpers. 

One thing is certain, though. A robot teacher is  than no teacher at all. In some parts of the world, there aren't  teachers and 9—16 percent of children under the age of 14 don't go to school. That problem could be partly  by robots, because they can teach anywhere and won't get stressed, or tired, or move somewhere for an easier, higher-paid job.

As you walk down the street, an object falls from a tall building and hits you. Who should be responsible for this? Or maybe you try to help someone in danger, but you hurt the person. Will you get in trouble for this? China's Civil Code (《民法典》) will give you the .

On May 28, the National People's Congress (全国人民代表大会) agreed China's first-ever Civil Code. With 1,260 articles, it is a collection of laws that is about personal issues, property (物权), marriage, family, personality rights, and inheritances (继承). It's like an encyclopedia (百科全书) for social life.

China does have laws that cover these issues. , all kinds of these laws are not unified. The Civil Code gathers them into one unified document and makes improvements. With the Civil Code, China hopes to set up a country under the rule of law with protection for civil rights.

One special thing about the code is the part about individual (个人的) rights. It's a major innovation (创新) to form the individual rights into one part alone. This part includes laws relate to one's body, health, name, image (肖像), and fame.

Some of the laws in this part deal with how new technology . For example, people who use AI face swap (调换) tools to make videos may go against  image rights. The laws also provide data protection rights relating to possible data leaks by tech companies.

As we know, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, there were several attempts to draft (起草) a civil code in 1954, 1962, 1979 and 2001. But the conditions not good enough. In 2015, China started to work on the present code and it after 5 years. This year, the code took effect on Jan. 1.
