Lei Feng is well known in China. He is an ordinary (普通的) Chinese soldier, 1 he is a national folk hero. 2 caring spirit to help others, makes him a famous role model in China.

Lei Feng was born on December 18, 1940 and passed away 3 on duty at the age of 22. In his short life, he was always doing good. Once, he came to Shenyang 4 in a military (军事的) training. As soon as he got on 5 train, he began to help others. He 6 helped the trainman (乘务员) sweep the floor, clean the windows, and tidy up the table. Then, he helped women hold their children 7 his arms, and found seats for the elderly. When free, he would read newspapers to passengers who didn't know the words.
