Members: The first hour of every day, 10 a. m. -1la. m. , is reserved for member-only viewing. Monday-Wednesday Closed

• Audio Guide

Audio guides can be rented at the admission counter, audio counter and outside some special exhibitions. The guide is free to visitors with visual or hearing disabilities.

With the digital interactive JourneyMaker, you can build custom family guides based on your child's interests-from superheroes to strange and wild creatures. Start your museum journey in the Family Room of the Ryan Leaning Center, and make your visit to the Art Institute an adventure for the whole family.

Your personal, pocket-sized guide to the collection, this new iOS app features podcast-style audio tours, location-aware technology, access to the digital member card, and so much more. Download it today from the App Store. 

• Photography

We encourage you to take pictures of the collection and special exhibitions for personal use. Signs indicate the few works that are not allowed to be photographed due to a lender requirement. 

• Phones

You are welcome to use your phone to take pictures, text, and use the museum's app-anything that does not disturb other visitors. If you need to make a phone call, please do so in a non-gallery space. 

• Valet Parking

Art Institute visitors can drop off their cars at the Modern Wing entrance(159 East Monroe Street) and walk right into the museum. The valet service is available daily from 10;30_a. m. until one-half hour after closing.

Child(aged 13 and under): Free

Spelling Bee

An Annual Community Tradition

Since 1992, the Needham Education Foundation (NEF) has held an annual Spelling Bee to raise funds to support educational programs that benefit all Needham public school students. The event has become a fun community tradition that draws hundreds of spellers from Needham schools, businesses, and the community.

Ways to Support the Bee

The NEF relies on local businesses, community organizations and individuals to make the Bee a success. No matter how you choose to support the Bee, you are making learning come alive for Needham public school students. Thank you!

* Register (注册) a Bee Team - $375

All teams must have three participants. Consider forming a team with your friends, co-workers, or neighbors (adults only please)! All student teams are selected and registered by their individual schools. Receive a $50 discount if you also purchase a full-page ad!

* Sponsor a Student / Teacher Team - $375

We are happy to see both students and teachers representing all eight Needham schools at the Bee each year. Consider sponsoring one of these student or teacher teams so that they may compete for free. Sponsors are listed on the team's sign and in the Bee program. Receive a $50 discount if you also purchase a full-page ad!

Science and Technology Camp

•Full-day camp for students aged 12-14

•Four-week program July 5-30 | Monday-Friday, 9 am to 4 pm

Week 1 | July 5-9

Week 2 | July 12-16

Week 3 | July 19-23

Week 4 | July 26-30

•Registration begins June 1, 2023 — register for minimum two weeks.

•Fees: $75 registration fee. $795 per week. Full payment must be made at time of registration.

•The deadline for the cancellation to receive a full refund is June 15, 2023.

Camp Structure

Camp days are comprised of eight sessions with two sessions per day while the final day of the week is reserved for overviews and reflection. The morning sessions begin at 9 am to 12 pm followed by one hour for lunch. (Campers should bring their lunches.) Afternoon sessions are scheduled from 1 pm to 4 pm with 15-minute breaks midway through each session. Snacks are provided at break time. (Food allergies should be reported at the time of registration.)

Camp Content

Science and Technology camp above all emphasizes entertainment while teaching students about how websites are designed using various coding languages, rocket design, practical applications of math and physics, and how to build your own hydraulics system.

Camp Personnel

The camp is headed by the husband-and-wife team of Doctors James and Sophie Clark who are experts in the fields of computer science and mechanical engineering. Our mission is to make sure everyone feels fully supported and excited to be here.
